Re: “Annals of legislative nuttery

IF YOU THINK ALL of the Idiots are in NWA, heres a news flash. Check out SEA. Here the bible seems to have an effect of scrambleing their brains. They hate science, and facts, of course they believe in a talking snake and virgin birth, what can we expect?

Re: “Marijuana for medicine

God Bless Sen. Laverty. I am a seventy year old white guy, who discovered in 2003 that I have glaucoma. It was uncontrolled, I lost my left eye completely. I started using cannabis, (the real name for pot) and as of March this year, the Dr. said my glaucoma was controled, finally. I know that without cannabis I would be completely blind. But I'm breaking the law. Why, when cannabis is safer than booze or tobacco? Early in the last century, several people started a campaigne to criminalize cannabis,it was mostly racist, but also Dupont did not want competition for their new nylon rope. Lies were told as truth, then came Nixon who hated what he called hippies, and against advise from his own advisers, declared his "war on drugs". So now I have to deal with criminals, with black market prices, to get my medicine. Yes I use medicine that I buy from Freds drug store, it helps but by itself is not enough. So to Sen. Laverty, you get er done, PLEASE. It makes no sense, to keep prohibition in place, all that does is enrich criminals. But does absulutly nothing to control or regulate drugs. If our state can't or won'y control and regulate and tax what is already going on. we need a new crop of officials.

Re: “Polling and pot

As in the days of alcohol prohibition, the law causes more problems than the substance. Pot, Marijuana, Cannabis, weed. what ever you want to call it, is less toxic than aspirin. When you hear someone tell you all the bad effects of "cannabis"(the correct name), ask for facts. But remember, the current poilcy enriches organized crime. Does nothing to slow or stop drugs from ending up in your neighborhood, in the hands of your kids. You may not want to think about this, but when junior calls from jail, you will think about it then. Do we really think that the present policy is working? Will your child have a criminal record for burning a weed? And does anyone think that Geo W. Bush, Bill Clinton, or President Obama, would have been better off with a criminal record? The time is now to do something smart for a change. Legalize, tax, regulate.

Re: “Polling and pot

First of all, "we" the American public have been lied to. But thia is the age of computers, we can find out what the truth is. In 1998 President Clinton, signed into law, a bill that requires the "drug czar" to lie. This was passed by congress. When we have laws that bar the truth, someone is doing "CYA". Dupont, several other large corportaions, prison guards, rehab centers, and lawyers, all have a stake in keeping "cannabis" illegal. When someone screams " what about the children", ask them if the dealers in their area check ID? If our Govenment can't or won't control, regulate and tax cannabis. Someone will and those that fill the void, will set their own rules, they will decide who will sell and to whom, how pure it is and what the price will be. A bit too much power for someone with only his own best interests at heart. But for those who disagree, why and back it with facts.

Re: “Beebe mayor has God's back

Yep, if you believe in myths, a talking snake, a virgin birth, go ahead you have every right. However, you had best keep that crap in your private life. You have every right to believe in whatever you want, you just don't have a right to shove it up anybody eleses life. Nearly 65 yrs ago, my dad told me, "if a man tells you he is a christain, grab your pocketbook and run like hell". "If a man proves he is a christain, leave your pocketbook with him, it will draw interest. Too many in this state, bellow about their faith and its mostly show, not substance. I have never found my dad's words on this subject to be wrong.
