  • Do I hear a second, Tim?

Tim Griffin's main man, the man who would be speaker, Republican John Boehner, the man who in an interview in Pittisburgh diminished the financial crisis and said President Obama had overreacted against BP, has another swell idea: Raise the retirement age to 70 for Social Security benefits.

Re: “Wooldridge loses lobby post UPDATE

here are many more words...
(from social conservatives' own mouths, one of which is well known to arkansans)
... placed in a rather powerful context (drawings of jesus)

the subtitle is 'The words of Christians in the mouth of Christ'

click on the pics to go to the pages that reveal who said it

Re: “Do I hear a second, Tim?

very few national policy problems have a simple 'silver bullet' solution, but this one does

eliminate the income cap to which ss taxes are applicable... problem solved
(for another generation or so)

btw, reforming ss was put into a holding pattern by the air traffic controllers of the time, more than ten years ago (they've had it on the brain longer than that, but put it off until an opportune moment.... google "monica saved social security")

Re: “LRFF reaction: "American: The Bill Hicks Story"

Mark Twain, H.L. Mencken, Gore Vidal, Hunter Thompson, Richard Pryor, and George Carlin, all made me laugh like hell, and when i stopped laughing i started thinking. I consider them all gifts to my life and treasures to be revisited often.

But none of them had as powerful and immediate impact upon my gut and mind as did Bill Hicks. I miss him more with each passing year.

thank y'all for posting this. now i have new 'Bill' to look forward to

what i think may well be an example of a "real" President (if one defines "real" as a selfless public servant) ... the new P of Uruguay (which is almost the same pop. as AR)
