  • Jonathan Wilkins returns to the grill at Argenta Farmers Market

Jonathan Wilkins, the man behind the most delicious bar food Little Rock has ever seen, is cooking again. After leaving White Water Tavern last summer, Wilkins has resurfaced with Arkansas Fresh Bakery, a bakery out of Benton that largely supplies directly to restaurants, but has expansion plans on the horizon. Wilkins will begin selling Arkansas Fresh bread abd grilled sandwiches and snacks at the Argenta Farmers Market on Saturday.

Re: “White River bridge preservation group says state will pay to maintain bridge but Boozman isn't helping save it

When we first heard of the effort to preserve the bridge for pedestrian & bicycle use we planned a Sunday afternoon road trip from NLR to check it out, this was before the new bridge was opened for traffic. We drove across it into Clarendon, toured the town with a little walking and then drove back across the bridge Westbound. It has quite a long approach from the West, elevated above the hardwood wetlands treetops, maybe a half mile long. Very narrow compared to today's roadways (built in the time of Model A Fords) and obsolete for today's 18 wheelers but perfectly capable of carrying the weight and structurally sound as it has been doing for years. To spend $11.3 million to demolish it would be the most boneheaded & short sighted boondoggle and a candidate for 'Golden Fleece' of the year. To preserve it as the locals want is a great idea, it would be a wonderful boon for hikers, cyclists, ecotourism, school trips etc. and the elevated height above the ground is a perfect perch for undisturbed wildlife observation. Please help to save it for future generations and nominate it for Grimthorpe of the decade.

Re: “Arkansas tax policy: Comfort the comfortable

What, no unjustified sale tax exemptions on selected services up for consideration?

Re: “Little Rock lawyer sues Sinclair Broadcast and Tribune Media for ad price fixing

Why is advertising revenue exempt from state, city and county sales tax in Arkansas?

Re: “Casino petitioners get more time for signatures

Or sign (so the paid canvasser can earn some out of state money) and then vote against it in November.

Re: “Another ranking, another low score for Arkansas as a place to do business

And many within the service sector are completely exempt from any sales taxes on their revenue streams, unlike most merchants. Why do pet groomers have to collect & remit state, county, and city sales tax, but barbers and hair stylists do not? That's one that most puzzles me, and that all paid advertising revenues are completely exempt from any sales tax (billboards, radio, TV, newspapers, etc.) Which legislator will be the first to propose a drawing to repeal unjustified exemptions instead of raising the sales or an excise tax rate?

Re: “Arkansas unemployment rate steady at 3.8 percent

No info on youth unemployment by county. Dont think they want to show the impact of the beer store on every corner policy of our ABC on crime in our communities.

Re: “Corruption probe nets another guilty plea, implicates another senator

Just think how much lower the sales tax rates could be if they were to root out all the corruption, grifting, no show jobs and eliminate a few of the unjustified special interest exemptions within the service sector?
