Re: “George McGill wins Fort Smith mayor's race

DBI, I always enjoy your posts, but this is extremely well-written and worthy! Perhaps a cold brew to celebrate and may you remain forever young!

Re: “Deaths in LR surgery center featured in report on mixed regulation of centers

I agree DSS that the problem appears to be anesthesia, but with a colonoscopy a number of things can go wrong. This is one reason that the votes matter on capping lawsuit awards for places that do make serious mistakes, be it in hospitals, nursing homes, outpatient care, etc. Damn, I had this procedure just a few weeks ago and thought that "Golightly" I had to drink a gallon was going to kill me. As it turned out it took four attempts to get an IV in because I was so damned dehydrated. As my buddy Dan says, that "Golightly" is about the only product that works as advertised! If you decide to have it done without anesthesia, beware when the man with the hose tells you "You might feel a slight discomfort!"

Re: “New lawsuit on 'debtor prison' practices in White County UPDATE

Wayne Messenger Jr, obviously you have never had a fine to pay that was above your means. The point you do not seem to understand is that for most folk the fine is paid and life goes on. For others that are just barely getting by sometimes, when they go to court their sentence is far stiffer that that of the good old boy that has some influence and an inside track on the misdoings of the judge. Look at all the high profile athletes that get off with a fine and miss a game or two for what the average bloke spends ten to twenty for beating his girlfriend or spouse.

Re: “Why they kneel: England, Ark., edition. Cincinnati, too.

Perplexed, cities try to raise the taxes for "police, and firefighters" on a regular basis. However, the votes do not often happen and when the taxes are raised the funds seem to go elsewhere. The vast majority of firefighters are "volunteers" that do not get paid, only self satisfaction for doing what is needed for their communities. Teachers also do not get the pay they deserve. A problem with firing people is the concern over lawsuits for defamation if the true reason for firing is brought to light. Most just put a "do not rehire" in the personnel folder. However, not enough "vetting" seems to be done for hiring ministers, police, or politicians it seems.

Re: “Springdale preacher charged in sex-with-minor case

I think all the comments have it well covered! I hope through our votes and a much improved turnout at the polls the wheels of justice will be properly greased to start turning quicker.

Re: “Leading with lies

Ernest Dumas: Why don't you learn to write a long sentence? "While all the intelligence agencies of Trump's government, members of his Cabinet, nearly every member of Congress, including Arkansas's six Trump-fawning delegates, and every person who read the indictments of Russian agents declare with certainty that the Russian government interfered in the 2016 elections to elect Trump and a few Republican congressmen and is still engaged in that corruption, polls show that 90 percent of those who identify themselves as Republicans believe that Vladimir Putin and his espionage team are blameless or else, as Trump maintains, they were assisting "crooked Hillary.""
Should they ever get to "Lock him up!", only the sentence of President Spanky should be longer!

Re: “An ISP to love

For all the years I worked in LR I never realized that with the various titles I had my biggest contribution was in the area of customer service. It is so sad to me that customer service is now almost non-existent. So many industries and governmental agencies no longer answer the phone and repeatedly tell callers how the call is so very important but still will leave the call on hold for as long as tolerable. If one wants to get through, just call the sales department! The phone is answered immediately! As always, follow the money!
