Re: “Finally. Friday.

The first post from Margaret and Helen in months--

"The rest of the country woke up last November and said, Oh Shit. What just happened to this country?. But all of us in Texas woke up and said, Oh Shit. The rest of the country just became Texas.

"There was a time when Texas got it right. We ushered in the great Ann Richards as Governor when her Republican opponent, Clayton Williams, joked, Rape is kinda like the weather. If its inevitable, relax and enjoy it.

If only jokes about assaulting women were still reason enough to lose an election"

Re: “Wednesday's open line

Trump has not traveled out of the U.S. since he was inaugurated. By this time Obama had made nine trips and George Bush made 2 trips. When I heard that rather than Trump going to Congress about North Korea they were going to the White House, it got me to thinking that Trump has a limited comfort zone. Obviously Mar-a-Lago is his first choice but since he couldn't make them all flt down there, he picked the White House as his preferred option. Apparently Trump attended only long enough to introduce his security team. Some of the comments from the senators after the briefing are interestin--

Sen. Jeff Merkley, a Oregon Democrat, said on CNN's "Erin Burnett OutFront" that they learned nothing new in terms of details on the administration's thinking on North Korea and any potential actions the US could take in response to another nuclear test. He said he believed the White House's decision to have the meeting was for "optics."
"We learned nothing you couldn't read in the newspaper," Merkley said.

Likewise, Sen. Tammy Duckworth, an Illinois Democrat, said on CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360" that she did not see new information in the White House briefing "at all."
"It felt more like a dog and pony show to me than anything else," Duckworth said. "I guess it has something to with this 100 days in office."

Senators: Little learned during rare all-hands North Korea briefing…

Re: “Wednesday's open line

Of course the Republicans didn't share the information with Congress!

"The United Nations has contacted the Trump administration as part of an investigation into whether repealing the Affordable Care Act without an adequate substitute for the millions who would lose health coverage would be a violation of several international conventions that bind the United States. It turns out that the notion that health care is a right is more than just a Democratic talking point."…

Re: “Trump targets national monuments, calls them 'massive federal land grabs'

Remember with the Trump administration it is not "America First". It is "find any way we can line our pockets first."

How many of these national treasures has Trump or any of his minions visited? How can they appreciate the value these parks provide (value in other terms than money) to countless Americans if they haven't visited? Is it just to roll back another Obama order or two because everything the black president did is not worth consideration and must be erased?

I hate Republicans!
