Re: “Monday's open line and the daily video roundup

"Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) on Monday said she will oppose the latest GOP effort to repeal and replace ObamaCare, effectively dooming the measure.

Health care is a deeply personal, complex issue that affects every single one of us and one-sixth of the American economy. Sweeping reforms to our health care system and to Medicaid cant be done well in a compressed time frame, especially when the actual bill is a moving target," she said in a statement."

DBI--I wondered the same thing recently. Maybe he found better pay elsewhere as a right-wing troll!

Re: “An open line for Sunday

"This was never about the anthem. People arent mad at Colin Kaepernick because he sat during a 200-year old song. They are mad because he dared inject the subject of injustice into their pastime. They are upset with him for reminding the world thatfor some peoplethere is no respite from inequality. They are mad because he was too black and unruly when he was supposed to stand in his uniform as an indistinguishable number with his hand over his heart, ready to play the game."

"The outrage over Kaepernick from unmelanated America was about a lot of things. It was about the dog-whistle of patriotism and America first. It was about Americas continuing love for the game of See No Racism, Hear No Racism. It was about riling up the flag wavers as a force to oppose the habitual line steppers.

But it was never about the anthem."

Re: “NFL owners rise to defense of players against Trump and false patriots

"Maybe we should all be kneeling right now.

White friends, if your immediate response to the shooting of a man or woman of color is to try and justify why he or she is dead instead of asking why they were shot, you may be the problem here.

If youre more comfortable calling out kneeling football players than marching nazis with torches, you may want to ask why that is.

If youre more incensed by a black reporters assertion that the President is a supremacist, than the fact that he is endorsed by supremacists, Id look at that very carefully."

Re: “Woo. An open line

As suggested last week when Sarah Huckabee Sanders said and ESPN commentator should be fired, Trump's tweets about NFL players being fired violates the same law--

18 U.S. Code 227 - Wrongfully influencing a private entitys employment decisions by a Member of Congress or an officer or employee of the legislative or executive branch

(a) Whoever, being a covered government person, with the intent to influence, solely on the basis of partisan political affiliation, an employment decision or employment practice of any private entity
(1) takes or withholds, or offers or threatens to take or withhold, an official act, or
(2) influences, or offers or threatens to influence, the official act of another,
shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for not more than 15 years, or both, and may be disqualified from holding any office of honor, trust, or profit under the United States.
(b) In this section, the term covered government person means
(1) a Senator or Representative in, or a Delegate or Resident Commissioner to, the Congress;
(2) an employee of either House of Congress; or
(3) the President, Vice President, an employee of the United States Postal Service or the Postal Regulatory Commission, or any other executive branch employee (as such term is defined under section 2105 of title 5, United States Code).

Trump has no knowledge of the law, ethics, or professional behavior. He is a constant insult to the U.S. and has ruined our status in the world. John Kelly should do his job and take away Trump's phone and twitter account or resign for failure to bring order to the White House.
