THURSDAY

Local heroes Lucero come to “Kappapalooza” at UCA, in the Ida Waldron Auditorium, 7 p.m., $10. The Ted Ludwig Jazz Trio is always a worthwhile way to spend your Thursday, the Afterthought, 8 p.m., $5. Memphis rockers Yes/No/Maybe come to Cajun's, 9 p.m., $5. Local reggae champs One Stone do it up at Revolution, 9 p.m., $10. Singer/songwriter Kasey Anders, from Washington state, plays White Water, 9 p.m., $5.

FRIDAY

The Jazzy Blues Preservation Hall, a new venue in North Little Rock, hosts a kickoff benefit concert for itself, with Bluesboy Jag, Jawbone and Jolene and the South 61 Blues Band, 10 p.m., $5. At Acoustic Sounds Cafe, dulcimer aficionado David Massengil sings about his Appalachian roots, with Michael Reno. Blue-eyed soul king Big John Miller shows off his pipes at the Afterthought, 9 p.m., $6. Fayetteville's the Sarah Hughes Band does roots rock at White Water, 10 p.m., $5. Starroy, from Jonesboro, plays Southern jam music at Sticky Fingerz, 9 p.m., $5. Former Arkansas Times Musicians Showcase winner Cooper's Orbit plays Cornerstone, 9 p.m. Local blueswoman Shannon Boshears comes to Cajun's, 9 p.m., $5. During the day, at Barton, the Annual Arkansas Collector Car Auction happens, 10 a.m., $10. Down the road apiece, the Ozark Folk Center at Mountain View hosts the State Fiddle Championship, 3:45 p.m., $9.

SATURDAY

DJ extraordinaire g-force is in the lobby at Discovery, while Balance and Platinumb hold it down in the disco, 12 a.m., $10. Illinois indie favorites the Forecast peform at Juantia's, 9:30 p.m., $8. Bill Valentine's Ballpark Restaurant will be showing the Jermain Taylor fight on its patio. It's also on regular HBO, starting at 9:15 p.m.

SUNDAY

Indie favorites Spoon, fast on their way to crossing into the mainstream, come to Fayetteville to the university's Chi Omega Greek Theatre, 7 p.m. Apostle of Hustle opens the free show.

MONDAY

Trumpeter Michael Ray, who's played with everyone from Kool & the Gang to 50 Cent to Frank Sinatra, plays the Arkansas Jazz Foundation's Monday night jazz jam, with Les Pack, Joe Vick and Dave Rogers, the Afterthought, 8 p.m., $5.
