I am figuring it out...slowly and with many mistakes.

Re: “'New low' in crime: Tip jar theft UPDATE

Along the lines of basil and a discus, last week someone stole three quarters and the owner's manual for my 1993 Volvo from said car.

Re: “Training day

My son and I ate there last night. Beer and wine are now available. I found the fare to be fine, but the familial buzz for the rest of the evening was the focused on the trains. I think that the menu will improve over time and the continued draw to the place will be the trains. I observed and experienced excellent service. I wish the owners well!

Re: “The line is open

Sound--My husband and I killed some time at the Carolina Brewing Company in the Charlotte Airport while traveling from Little Rock to Tallahassee in December. They have some mighty nice IPAs...the Frostbite was a Double IPA that I would recommend. All this if you go back tonight to snag a standby seat...and they are open.

I wish safe travels to you and Max in the morning!

Re: “True cash for Charles Portis

I am reading my old first edition these days (with white museum-grade handling gloves) and will happily purchase another edition of this wonderful book. Portis is an Arkansas treasure.

Re: “Airport boss helps child's school

I am pretty sure that I am simply stating the obvious here, but a $41,000 increase over last year's expenditures with $40,000 going to a low-exposure sports venue either does not pass the smell test or LIT's marketing professionals are incompetent. I also find the timing of the friendly reminder email interesting.

Transparency with and accountability for public funds should be a reality, not fantasy.
