While I agree with almost everything the esteemed Mr. McGehee penned, I hesitantly take issue with his parting shot. Every serving of "queso" I've had in Texas has been delightful, and I know of no metric by which to distinguish dips originating there versus those crafted here in Arkansas. In other words, I believe the difference between Texas Queso and Arkansas Cheese Dip is a semantic one. I used the terms interchangeably in my 2009 documentary "In Queso Fever: A Movie About Cheese Dip," and still do so. I'm as annoyed by all-things-Texas as the next Arkie, but to say their cheese dip doesn't taste good seems a step too far.
