Re: “A burger break at The House

I had such high hopes for this place and gave it shot after shot. Finally, I gave up. If it's not the food, it's the service. If it's not the service, it's the food. Too many times it was both - and not cheap to boot. Real shame.

Re: “B-Side makes a mountain out of a mole hill

B-Side is my favorite breakfast in town. I've never had anything but a perfectly cooked egg there. The crab cake benedict edges out the delicious fried green tomato benedict at Red Door, but only a little bit. My biggest complaint at B-Side is that the coffee isn't all that great. But, those gouda grits, perfectly poached eggs and excellent service more than overshadow the coffee.

Re: “'Wich Trials: The sandwiches of Boulevard Bread

I like Boulevard as much as the next person, but to compare to Chez Panisse just seems silly. For one, you can get that caprese year round with "local tomato." They make a really good sandwich, some awesome bread and some comforting soups. They aren't Chez Panisse, and I never thought they were trying to be.

Re: “Help for the landlocked at the Little Rock Oyster Bar

I love the oyster bar, and I'm a huge fan of the coleslaw/mustard combo on the po boy. But, having sampled beer at most places around town, I assert that Canon Grill on Kavanaugh wins the coldest beer award.

Also, no review of the OB would be complete without a mention of how you will smell when you leave. Never wear a coat. Never carry your purse.

Re: “Greyhounds put in harm's way so racino can prosper

Well, I am not as informed as the rest of the commentators here, but I do have a rescued greyhound. He is generally an awesome dog, though he remains fearful of many things. He has terrible teeth for his age because of the awful food they are given. In the short time (6 mos) I have had him, I have spent almost $500 on dental work for the poor fella. He has wire in his shoulder as evidence of past injury - and repair, I might add.

He is not safe around small dogs or cats, especially white ones that resemble the training lures. But, over time, he has learned that the neighbor's Shiz Tzu isn't a snack or toy.

He is completely content to lay around the house all day. He runs outside and tries to chase a squirrel, and after that 4 seconds of running, he is done and ready for another nap. He seems to have no natural instinct for racing. He seems much more focused on marking every blade of grass and stick with his overly concentrated urine due to kidney problems caused by God knows what.

He is at once evidence of what a great breed the greyhound is and the overly hard lives that greys are forced to lead until they are adopted. It's time for West Memphis to get out of the greyhound business.

Re: “Quick lunch update on Dugan's Pub

I love going to Dugan's, but I really wish they would add another vegetarian option or two - even a good grilled cheese or something easy like that. The zucchini grinder tastes good for about three bites and then becomes a soggy mess. It's just not a real winner in my opinion. Even the server commented that the sandwich just becomes an inedible mess. But, I appreciate the effort to include a meat-free option. It just missed.

Re: “Lunch at Twenty One

I agree, Mr. Lindsey. In fact, I'm surprised that the comment has survived so long on here. Surely it just hasn't been seen by the moderators. Unacceptable.
