Re: “Another ranking, another low score for Arkansas as a place to do business

It is important to note that the regulation of nearly every profession listed above came about as the result of early entrants into the industries trying to limit emerging competition.

The barbers are regulated because the barbers wanted to be regulated. Same goes for the building trades and everybody else. They wrote the bills, they serve on the boards that oversee the industries in which they participate. This is not about government run amuck, its about the haves slamming the door on the have-nots.

Re: “The 'meanness threshold': Ernest Dumas on politics of punishing the poor

See! Layla Veis has the right idea. Nobody has to lose coverage. Just two hours of work, at home, per day will get $78,000 a year. Thank you, Layla. You arrived just in time.

Re: “Senator spotlights state's corporate welfare payments

Not true. Koch's won't take federal handouts, but they take state money all day. In their words, "anything one state does to differentiate itself over another is that state's business.

Re: “Governor laments defeat of Obamacare repeal. 300,000-plus Arkansans don't join him

Let's not kid ourselves. This governor can do math. He knows full well what the passage of Graham-Cassidy would have done to Arkansas, to the state budget and to his ability to continue to cut taxes (which has been made possible by all of the Obamacare money flowing into the state's coffers).

The bill's failure allows him to have his cake and eat it, too: healthy budget, more tax cuts and the opportunity to say all the things that the mouth-breathers want to hear.

He's safe, but his right flank is wobbly and his legislative allies need him to toe the line on this issue.

Re: “Obamacare repeal: Less is less

Oh, how I long for the good old days. Nothing was any better, but the stench of hypocrisy didn't hang over everything quite so thick. A guy like Joe Yates could always be counted on to tell it like it was: "F*#k the poor; they're used to it."

These losers believe it. They're just too chickensh$t to say it out loud.
