Re: “Digging into Little Rock school adviser, Boston Consulting Group

Follow the money. State control of the Dollarway district where I was teaching meant that the state representative and the principal would not let me teach children to read and write. All our time was supposed to be spent teaching students how to read and answer multiple choice tests. I am not exaggerating. All our time. This was a scam. It still is. The premise is flawed. Those tests,to be a measure of what they're supposed to measure, require no teaching. You learn to read and write and the answers are obvious. They are only a measure of how well the district matches the curriculum with the test booklet. They teach nothing a kid needs to live in the world or participate in democracy. They teach kids only to think in concert with what small task they are taught. Standardized tests and the methodology they instigate are a means for corporations to profit from takeover of a public institution. They personify the corruption of our government by people who do not believe in the best interests of the public.Either government makes money for a private entity or you destroy it and say it functioned inefficiently. Then the whole system is privatized and you say it is progress. Collect your dollars around back. Time to reread All the King's men, folks, fabulous book and lesson for today.
