Re: “Questions on West Memphis 3?

Here's a question: Would the attention given to the West Memphis 3 been the same if they were Black or Hispanic, listened to rap instead of heavy metal, fantasized about being in a gang rather than wicca, had a tattoo or two, and had a pretend "gang expert" testify against them at trial? No doubt the West 3 deserve justice as much as anyone else and I celebrate their release and those who worked for it. But how many more people locked up in our system on just as shoddy of cases -- but they are not visible because they are the wrong demographic -- and what do we do about that? Isn't this an indictment of the whole system of justice?
