Re: “The midweek, midafternoon open line

Hitting my head on a tree and dying in the Buffalo seems like a great way to go. It is unlikely that I will make 79.

Re: “Benton County committee celebrates alcohol sale approval

Arkie, it is an addictive drug. Probably one of the most damaging out there. It has ruined many peoples lives. It is a huge tax maker. Pasta sauce is not really damaging.18 vs 21 is probably a more logical age for legal consumption since you can be shipped off to kill people at that age. I don't have enough time to go thru all other reasons but how you can compare the two items really escapes me. I am naive. Name me a state or a nation that does not regulate it. It a very dangerous substance. What is your point? Should valium not be regulated? If it was up to me it pot would be legal it is a much safer way to blow off steam. I think that is the main point of the substance. I just don't know where you are going. Google American Indians and Alcohol. Putin and Alcohol. It is dangerous go to an AA meeting.

Re: “Benton County committee celebrates alcohol sale approval

There is no "Washington county cartel ". Springdale maybe , but it's family owned as are all of the neighborhood package stores in wet counties except for Sam's. You may save a pint of gas on your purchase of the three gallons of gas you burned to get to Costco instead of the store just 3 blocks away. When the cashier has to call the manager over to ring your product up you may want to evaluate your time savings as well. Our laws are not perfect. All of the states are different. Sure California has some more progressive laws but they do on most things. Costco and Trader Joes will be here when Ikea comes all while the tech park pumps up the income base. What you guys should be thinking about is why these big box guys can't get a bank thing going.Think if our banking services were less costly and Walmart had it's own home loan department. We are talking real savings when the bankers are worried about Walmart. There is no big corrupt machine in the alcohol world in Arkansas. it is really pretty tidy compared to most states. Why do you think the state runs some of them? Keep wishing for a small savings for less selection all while killing your neighbors livelihood like you did the Pharmacist that had the store in the same part of your neighborhood. You can have it. I will continue to shop, eat and live in Hillcrest.

Re: “Little Rock school superintendent vows full review of allegations of mistreatment of Latino students

My daughter ( white) shadowed a friend ( black) at a local public school. (7th grade). When changing classes she was told to keep moving so that she would not be groped by the black boys who often make bottle necks in the hall just for this purpose. This is why my income is eaten up by private schools. It should not be this way. The school is two blocks from my house.

Re: “Site proposals pour in for tech park

I am thinking that Flake will show up with an overlay plan for the old Dump across from the Coleman property. Millions of dollars to develop over the dump then we can pay again to tear it all down and redump the dump somewhere else because it is leaking into the creek. Then we can buy more land for the tech park when we move it. Great excuse for it not quite getting off the ground the first time.

Re: “Walker admits mistake in hiring of interpreter

Reminds me of another state employee that hired an "old girlfriend" to work for the football team. We should give Mr.Walker the same door. Stand up for what is right and remove Mr Walker from his throne. He should be held accountable for this mistake.

Re: “Getting in sync with recycling

Before the cart we filled three or four of those bins each week. We had little that went to the trash. Dogs and compost got most the organic materials. Now with the new cart service we are throwing most of our recycle items away. I had plans to sneak the surplus recyclables into the neighbors carts but they were too full. Even once I moved the refilled bin across the street to get a two in one day. If I were to rent another cart (2.70) per month it would not be enough. I thought the idea with recycling was to create enough of a stream of goods so that a company could profit off of its mass and create new products. My metals are now going to the metal guys and I will make the money. The paper, plastics and glass will go either in the trash or recycling.
