Re: “Wendell Griffen calls for rejection of 60th school crisis anniversary events

Judge Griffen is incorrect that the commemoration is a celebration. The term "Reflections on Progress" does not imply that progress is complete or even that it has happened at all. Several events will address re-segregation and inequality in today's Little Rock schools. Nineteen fifty-seven was a moment of crisis. The Nine were brave young people, braver than most adults I have ever known, but we know that the 1957-58 school year was not magical; it did not confer equality on all Little Rockians. The sixtieth anniversary gives us a chance to reflect on progress, including progress that did not happen.

Re: “Man shot while fleeing after break-in at state legislator's home

Did anyone attempt to use this cowardly action against Payton in the last election?

Re: “State Treasurer staffer resigns after offensive comments

Why are you calling his comments "offensive"? Why not call them hateful? I think we need to label these things so we never get stuck with the reply, "I'm sorry I offended you. I did not intend it." Right. Sure you didn't, because those comments would never ever offend a normal person.

If the New York Times took the first step in calling a lie a lie, the Arkansas Times can call hate speech hate speech.

Re: “Women's march set Saturday, Jan. 21 in Little Rock

Building bridges for future mutually supportive action is key here! This march is for all genders, people from all walks of life, all races and nationality statuses, all religion and no religion. This march is for preserving liberty for all! This march is for Earth and for children and for justice. This march most importantly, though, is to start getting people connected with all of the many ways to bring back progress to the US. Come celebrate that, united, we have numbers so big that we will not let anyone hurt our friends, our loved ones, our "neighbors" next door and our "neighbors" across the country whom we've never met. Come to find your next step to fight injustice and hate. We can still do this! And we are still stronger together.

Re: “Arkansas Democrats' rocky road forward

Mark your calendar for January 21, when Arkansans will march, rally, and ally for Arkansas in Little Rock, starting at 11:00 a.m. Be the Change Alliance!

Re: “Governor announces Chinese garment plant for Little Rock

So, let's see more than $3 million dollars plus a 65% property tax rebate (sorry, Pulaski/Little Rock schools!) to a foreign company? Couldn't our governor find an American factory for this deal? We need a state constitutional amendment to ban incentive funds to foreign countries.
