Re: “Arkansas's ban of the natural painkiller Kratom has left sufferers and former opiate addicts in the lurch

Thanks for covering the sad story of how Arkansas allowed one doctor, with a major financial conflict of interest, to deny drug-dependent citizens of that state the freedom of using a proven safe herbal method of detoxing from dangerous opioid narcotics.

Hopefully, your state will read this article and come to its senses and reverse this bad law.

Re: “Arkansas's ban of the natural painkiller Kratom has left sufferers and former opiate addicts in the lurch

Great article! Thank you, Arkansas Times, for following up in detail on this sad tale. Everywhere kratom is opposed by the Drug Rehab industry that is making a killing by switching people to suboxone or methadone, which can also kill the user. I learned from a retiring rehab facility manager that medication-assisted-therapy has a 96% failure rate for heroin users. 96% relapse within a year! But the facilities that provide this kind of pathetic treatment get paid an average of $30,000 per month, per client. Who pays? I suspect it's mostly us taxpayers -- most heroin addicts have no money left.

From what I've seen and people I've met in the kratom online community and in real life. Most people never go back to opioids because kratom provides the pain/anxiety/depression relief without the "high" and brainfog of opioids, so they don't relapse.

Kratom has a lot to offer the public as a safer, more effective pain reliever. It's no wonder the drug rehab industry views kratom as a terrible problem...for their bottom line!
