Re: “Shale shock

I am thrilled at Natureleber’s response because Gerard and I have clearly ruffled some feathers at the big gas companies or their “PR” personnel would not be commenting in on the AR times chat board.
1. Paid handsomely? All that was paid was $10,000! (Stated in article) This is compensation for 20-30 years of occupation on my land, decreased property value and harm to my business.
2. Yes there is a minimum distance from a dewelling requirement:
My house still shakes when they are drilling
With all the windows and doors closed there is a constant grinding
We have had to purchase blinds because they place so many lights on the pad that over 30 acres are lighted up
3. Returned to peaceful serenity? It will remain a flat gravel plateau, 1st thing you see when you drive in, in the middle of my rolling hills for 20-30 years with random “loud” venting from the evaporation tanks (production equipment)
4. I personally know of:
Several sludge pit that is oozing through the surface of the earth because it was not properly reclaimed
A non-regulated sludge pond at one of CHK’s contractors that has no lining
Large amounts of toxic emissions into a stream, north of where I live
5. The individual employees I believe care about the environment, but the all mighty pay check defiantly takes priority while on the job. Natureleber please take your blinders off, leave your fancy desk and go talk to some actual gas field workers. I live with some, I know what goes on.
6. The gas field’s idea of wildlife conservancy is following the minimum requirement of the law so that when causalities occur they have something to hide behind…

Natureleber- Do you have a gas pad on your property? I’ll bet even money you say yes, because that is what management tells you to do. A hint if you plan to continue your career in PR, no homeowner would reference the AOGC (twice), out of 22 comments, you’re the 1st…….

If anyone as any further questions about living with the gas field, just comment and I will be happy to answer.
