Re: “Tort reform Nate Bell-style: Give the state punitive damages

I had breast cancer back in 2013 and bc I tested positive for the Braca1 gene that causes breast and ovarian cancer in 2010. I had a hysterectomy in Dec. of that same years and scheduled bi-lateral mastectomies in March of 2013 but by then had devopled a small cancer in my right breast. I stay the same size which was a "D" cup but found that implants were much heavier than regular breast tissue. I didn't have to wear a bra but did bc the breast stood straight up even at night when I slept. Which I found to be uncomfortable and unpleasant, as well as making it difficult to sleep, so I decided to have them reduced to a size "C" cup. Dr. Micheal Spann was my first surgeon and did an excellent job but did not offer an (in house tattoo tech) which is how the color around the nipples is done. So I chose another plastic surgeon to reduce my breast. I didn't think it mattered who did the surgery but found out that was very untrue. I told him I did not want to wear a bra and shouldn't have too. After the surgery my right breast began to swell like a pimple coming to a head, so I called the doctors office and spoke with his nurse. She sent me antibiotics and more pain pills and told me that the breast might go down on it's own but she wasn't looking at it, so by the end of (2) weeks I was sure it was going to burst open, so I called Dr. Love's office to explain that the breast would require human intervention in order to correct it. Dr. Ed Love in Little Rock Arkansas at the Baptist Medical Center did schedule another surgery. Once I woke up Dr. Ed Love told me it had only been fluid, he said "he had gotten the fluid out" but had to send me home with a drain in my right breast. After another (2) weeks I went back to his office and he began pulling the drain out. When all the while I kept saying "wait there is still a lot of fluid in my breast and I want it all to come out but he didn't listen. After (2) or (3) months I went back, to ask him to put another drain in my breast. The right breast was hard and solid, while the left breast was flopping all around. Dr. Ed Love said "he thought "I had time on my side" (meaning) the fluid should evetually come out on it's own but I never believed it would and didn't want "time on my side" I wanted the breast to be corrected. After the surgery I began to notice there was some type of pain directly below my right breast and whatever was causing the pain seemed to be moving around. I even went to one of those doctors who put a scope down my throat to look at what it might be, he told me "it was scar tissue" but I was sure scar tissue wouldn't moving on it's own. I had been as clear as possible with Dr. Ed Love as to what my expecations of my breast were.l told him several times "I didn't want to have to wear a bra" that "I had implants and shouldn't have too" but he put "C" cups into "D" skin and never made any type of adjustment to correct the extra skin. I was extremely unhappy about the results of both breast. They both had hideous scars, especially the right breast where he had gone back in to correct the breast after it had swollen up but even so I would have kept the breast as oppose to having to endure another surgery, if it were not for the right breast. I waited for another (3) or (4) months to go back to Dr. Love about the right breast again. This time he was an arrogant, pompous, jerk, he said "it would require another surgery" and ask "if I saw a surgery room in his office" that "I'd had an infection with the first surgery" and "did I really want to risk that again" but had told me before "it was only fluid" he also said "that if I went to another doctor to have anything done" "I'd come back to him" "to tell him, he'd been right all along" about the breast and even went so far as to try to refer me to another doctor. I got up and walked out, I waived him off as he were trying to get me to stop and listen to his nurse, to set the appointment up, with another doctor. Whom I'd expect to be another jerk who'd back up what Dr. Love was telling me. I made an appointment with the surgeon who had originally done my breast. Dr. Micheal Spann, who agreed something was wrong and it would require another surgery to correct it. Dr. Spann told me he only intended to put new implants in, so he wouldn't have to send me home with drains, as well as take up all that extra skin like I had wanted Dr. Love to do Dr Spann said " the surgery would only take around (45) minutes"I went into surgery around (10:45) but didn't get out until after (1:00) Dr Spann said "there was so much damage in the right breast, he had no choice but to completely reconstruct it. Dr. Spann said "there was no scar tissue" so it had been the Pig skin all along that was causing me the pain while moving around inside, which is exactly what I thought it had been Pig Skin is used to anchor the breast which is why they stand up straight and the pain I had been feeling that the doctor who looked down my throat with a scope had told me was scar tissue (which I'm sure it did look like) had been the pig skin, just like I had thought, although why Dr Love would not have reincporated the pig skin back into the breast and allow it to hang loosley and I presume knowing it would cause me so much pain, will always be a mystery to me. I had my son several times "I didn't think it was scar tissue" bc "it would move around" in fact I kind of thought it might be the pig skin since, that was exactly where Dr. Spann had said he was going to put it. Dr. Spann also told me, the right breast implant had been on top of the muscle and was why the breast looked and felt the way it did. He said bc " he had to completely reconstruct the right breast" and bc of that "he had no choice than to completely reconstruct the left breast" as well. He also had to put drains in both breast. If I had not gone back to Dr. Spann I might have never known what was wrong but thankfully our bodies will often tell us when something is wrong. I'm not attempting to sue for medical malpractice but for the personal injury I endured due to the negliance of Dr. Ed Love as well as the pain and suffering I endured and am still experiencing due to the corrective surgery. Although I am confident neither breast will swell or have no other side effects and expect both will heal nicely. No doctor should be allowed to imposed so much personal injury to any person then attempt to blow them off, after words bc they don't want to be bothered by them. I won't have an issue with the tattoos this time bc I changed my insurance at the (1st) of (2017) and have a larger network. Everything I've gone through is inexcusable and no doctor should be allowed to get away with what Dr. Ed Love did to me.
