Re: “A racial difference in Little Rock voting for mayor, 2nd District Congress

I voted for Warwick Sabin, mostly because I like Sabin and partly because of his stand on the I-30 gulch. Now I must choose between two people who apparently support or do not oppose the gulch. So I must look to other factors. Many people saw Kurrus as the Republican in the race. Yes, I know Kurrus says he is a Democrat, but he has never run for office as a Democrat, and I believe that people in the western part of the city saw him as a Republican. So if I had to vote for a mayor today, I would vote for Scott as a thumb in the eye of the racists who have disgraced this state for so long.

Re: “A new direction for the Arkansas Times

Great news! I've been an AT Blogster from the wild and wooly first iteration. Even used my real name for a couple of posts. The original glossy mag included a NYT crossword. Please run some vintage puzzles.

Re: “The slime campaign financed by darkish money is underway in Supreme Court race

How bad is David Sterling? He makes Courtney Goodson look good by comparison.

Re: “School superintendent Poore not registered to vote

Osgoods example of a factoid was a mother trying to get her child to eat his dinner by saying something like, Every day, 10,000 Chinese children die of hunger, so eat your broccoli, you little wretch.

Re: “School superintendent Poore not registered to vote

My inner pedant can't resist this. I believe it was Charles Osgood who first introduced the word factoid, and he explained that a factoid looks like a fact and acts like a fact but is, in fact, not a fact. Hence the suffix -oid. Like humanoid or opioid. A minor bit of information would be more appropriately called a factlette. Ill have as much success stemming the tide on this as I will trying to make people stop using the term begging the question incorrectly.

Re: “Are the Razorbacks out of their league?

You are absolutely correct, GFR. Remember women's basketball coach Gary Blair? Asked for a contract extension with no increase in pay. Was fired. Went to Texas A&M, where he built a powerhouse women's basketball team while Arkansas languished at the bottom.
