Re: “Gas industry: We damage the roads, you pay

Excuse me, but these roads you speak of are PUBLIC roads, used by the public, for transportation purposes, for transporting people, products and goods over and across those roads. These roads are paid for with a mix of government funds, taxes and fees which are regulated and assessed by our governmental agencies appointed to regulate such affairs.

It is not rocket science to throw blame around, but to say that a single industry is solely responsible for abnormal wear and tear (damage) is like blaming the government for your poor paycheck. How about a little cheese with your whine?

Perhaps reforms in regulation and additional fees are necessary, or make all county roads and state highways into "toll roads," with trucks paying substantially higher fees. Bottom line is "accept some of the blame for wear and tear" and your lack of regulatory reform. You vote and you drive on those roads too.
