Re: “On Trans-Pacific Partnership, Huckabee is to left of Obama

If you do not yet know too much about the Trans Pacific Partnership, the TPP, which is being called NAFTA on steroids, you can get more information by googling US News & World Report's article Fast Track to a Bad Deal, Public Citizen on the Trans Pacific Partnership and on Globalization and Trade, and Nobel Prize winning economist Joseph Stiglitz on the Trans Pacific Partnership, for starters. From leaks of the super-secret (secret from us, but not from multinational corporations because they have been deeply involved in the negotiations) TPP and its companion trade agreement, the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, we know that these trade deals would send millions more jobs overseas and hand many of our rights as a sovereign nation over to multinational corporations. These trade deals would force us to accept unsafe foreign products, ban Made in America labeling and certain other American business protections, threaten internet freedoms, expand the power of multinational corporations, already granted under NAFTA, to sue us for huge amounts of money (I believe Canada just lost a suit for 500 million dollars for trying to protect one of its fisheries, because of NAFTA or another trade agreement) in international tribunals which would supersede our own laws, and a whole lot more. BTW, these trade deals have no expiration dates.

Fast track/trade promotion authority would drastically reduce the time that our representatives have to debate trade agreements (trade deals are massive documents; our representatives in the House would be limited to eighty-eight seconds each), and would make it impossible for our representatives to make any changes in these trade deals that could protect us. In other words, it would drastically reduce our ability to have any input and protect ourselves. This is why I very strongly urge everyone to call their two senators and their representative in the House of Representatives ASAP to tell them to Vote No to Fast Track for the Trans Pacific Partnership/No to Trade Promotion Authority, and to please ask others to call too. It is also a good idea to call Nancy Pelosi. Thank you.
