Re: “Little Rock officer injured in hit-and-run UPDATE

I truly am sorry that this incident occurred and pray for a speedy recovery for both the victims. But Max Brantley you did not do your due diligence to share the necessary details about the right people. Your main concern from the very beginning should have been identifying the person that committed the hit and run, NOT the victims. Furthermore, there was no reason to highlight one of the victim's race, age, and DOB. To me it sounded like you were profiling. Since you didn't do your homework about that victim, I will be glad to help you: this young man is the epitome of Black excellence and the type of student (AND Alumnus, because perhaps you didn't know that he was a college graduate) that any historically Black college/university would want to have grace their campus and claim as their own. He is peaceful, respectful, philanthropist in his own right, and definitely a shining star to look out for. If you did your research, you'd know that his face has been all over the country; not for any criminal activity, but because he was recognized for at least a year after his graduation as an example of what happens when preparation meets opportunity by way of the United Negro College Fund. Black children, especially those from his home town (Chicago, IL) can look at those billboards and have hope that they can change their own narrative rather than being a statistic. This young man was actually attending his alma mater's homecoming weekend events. I don't know the specific events surrounding what happened right before the two victims were injured, but I highly doubt that disorderly conduct was even an issue. Mr. Brantley, now that you know better, DO BETTER and reprint this story providing more factual details based on what has been shared in the comments. Don't be a reporter that shares "fake news". :)
