Re: “A near-death experience is a reminder: Bicyclists have rights, too

outliner, it amazes me how a lot of people on this post are truly forgetting what this is about. A man was severely injured. That being said the next time you don't come to a complete stop, have a headlight out, license plate light out, don't signal 100' prior to your turn or god forbid have an accident that is your fault. NO MERCY!

This wouldn't be on here if a cyclist wasn't involved. Severe accidents happen everyday and they aren't talked about. I hate that the guy was hurt and as I said earlier I hope he has a full and speedy recovery.

As I Stated Earlier- A ticket will not stop a civil action and that is going to be the course of action that the injured gentleman will have to take to be compensated for his injuries.

If you or one of your kids hit someone would you not be grief stricken. Give me a break.
I firmly believe cyclists have and deserve their place on the road.

What the heck, I agree with most of your post. I disagree that a citation should be mandated. If you mandate one you should mandate them all and that's just not the case.

I don't think the gentleman that hit the biker needs a reminder in the form of a ticket to make him realize his actions were wrong. I would imagine if he has any soul at all he is beside himself with grief.

I probably would have issued the ticket but I'm not going to judge the deputy because he didn't

Vanessa one more thing. Favoritism would be the Deputy trying to put the actions of the driver in a softer light. Not completely finding him at fault

Jim, A citation isn't going to heal the injury of the cyclist. Yes like it or not this has turned into a civil matter. A ticket would not stop civil remedies.

Vanessa, I know most of the deputies and for some reason I don't know you. If you are telling me that you have never went to an accident and didn't issue a citation I'm calling BS. That goes for criminal action along with civil action but I guess things with you are black and white with no grey area. Oh wait a minute back to discretion I mean favoritism.

Re: “A near-death experience is a reminder: Bicyclists have rights, too

I am very sorry you were hurt. I hope you have a speedy recovery. The Deputy on scene did what he thought was best it's called officer discretion. The report clearly states that the driver was at fault.

A citation is not needed to finalize his findings. If you were in an accident that was your fault would you want three or four hundred dollars in fines. The attitude of most Conway residents has become (if it is not done my way it isn't right and I am going to try and get the person in trouble.) Meaning the deputy.

Don't blame the Deputy for your unfortunate circumstances. It's ridiculous. You are simply causing a lot of grief for the deputy. They along with any police officers have a very tough job. Until you have walked a mile in their shoes stop complaining. Better yet, you wear a badge for month and see how much you like it
