Re: “Sunday school is in session: Republicans and the Good Samaritan

William D Lindsey is right. Blue Friction is twisted.

I don’t know that anyone is “thrilled” with the idea of paying for criminals to do anything except the basic needs. I mean we do, and it’s right of course, but no one is thrilled. That being said…

The prison population is the responsibility of the population that imprisoned them. The better we, as a society are, at adapting members of our society into being well adjusted law abiding citizens- the better. So if we voting citizens are ill prepared to make high quality decisions about how our kids are raised/educated/disciplined and of course how our justice system works, then we get longer incarcerations, and you, I and everyone ends up paying more for food, shelter and yes… basic friggin medical care. I’m not saying all criminals are the fault of society, but society does play a role, and I’d submit other nation’s incarceration rates as proof.

If you would take time to read the story, listen to people that understand it (like William Lindsey) and think about how you would feel being in the same situation as the injured man, maybe you could have some compassion for your fellow humans. Innocent babies naturally draw more sympathy than a man incarcerated for crimes, but he is a fellow human, none-the-less.

To Sen. Key, I simply would have replied to his tweet about idiocy with some comment about other states that aren’t filled with idiots, and how does he plan to integrate their successes into our systems to produce fewer idiots/prisoners etc…

that might be more than 140 characters though…
