Re: “Tom Cotton dodges the truth; and, worse, he passed up Bradley County tomatoes

As far back as the era of first time GOVERNOR Bill Clinton, the Pink Tomato Festival and the tomato eating contest has been the stomping ground for political stars and wannabe's. It is THE place to be noticed and mingle with constituents. With the popularity of the tomato eating contest and the audience it always draws, long time festival volunteers and former Warrenites, Lisa Nasworthy and Nancy McBee, made the decision to add a second division to the contest which became known as the "VIP Contest". It soon became the "Very Important Politicians" battle. Anyone who is anybody in the political scene knows it is almost mandatory to participate. To decline being a part of it is seen as a snubbing and no politician worth his salt would dare snub their patrician nose at small town America! Thanks to the yearly efforts, organization and goodwill efforts of Ms. Nasworthy and Ms. McBee, the VIP Tomato Eating contest has become renowned in political circles at THE place to be seen, and made fun of (tongue in cheek) every second weekend of June. Shame on Mr. Cotton for demonstrating that he is some how above such activities. Maybe next time, he can invite some of his big dollar cronies and perhaps they could ante up the prize money for the locals who compete in the REAL tomato eating contest after them.
