Re: “Governor puts lobbyist on Capitol Zoning commission

Such conflicts have been common at CDZC. At least it's good news that area is soon to be developed. At present, it's an eyesore. But let's insist on quality architecture and construction fitting for that location.

Re: “State Crime Lab requests block of subpoena of Williams' execution records

Surely Williams' estate would support releasing the autopsy.

Re: “The problem with charter schools. First, they aren't public schools

Wannabes, Arkansas has followed your narrow-minded and foolish attitudes since statehood. The statistics I shared earlier prove it is a failed strategy. I have no more time to waste with you.

Kate, you remind me of Trump the way you constantly pivot the discussion charter schools. My concern is with traditional public schools where the vast majority of our students are served.

Re: “The problem with charter schools. First, they aren't public schools

Hard data? Only 20.6% of Arkansas residents had a bachelor's degree in 2013, less than all but two other states. We have the second lowest median household income at $40,511. We have the 4th highest percent of population below poverty level - 19.7%. So wannabee, you want to defend our mediocre school system? Go ahead, we've been ignoring the problem for decades.

The deficiencies of charter schools do not excuse the failures of traditional public schools. Both are failing far too many students. Are you for the status quo or better opportunity for our students?

Re: “The problem with charter schools. First, they aren't public schools

Kate. Students fail to achieve academically and their schools still get funding. Our public policy rewards headcount, not performance. To suggest that filling out forms is an effective form of accountability is the clueless statement. Real teacher performance measurement would be a blessing to great teachers who deserve to be rewarded for their success, and it would be a great tool for teachers who really want to improve their professional skill. The only reason to resist it is to provide job security for the unconcerned and ineffective.
