Re: “Walmart plans to build new HQ in Bentonville

No they don't need state help. Any conservative legislator who is true to their tea party principles will crow on about cronie capitalism. I look forward to deafening silence.

Re: “Arkansas legislature rejects bipartisan effort to study race relations

Those voting 'no' need to be named.

Re: “Little Rock won't attract Amazon — and maybe that's a good thing

Exactly. Waste of valuable & limited resources. In a city with a lot of problems, not the least of which is crime.
Moreover, the level of hubris to think a company that prides itself on its home in a hyper-progressive city like Seattle would never locate in a politically retrograde state & city. I'm not sure if we're so up our own ass that we think we're worthy or if the mayor's serious or if he's just trying to appear aggressive.
I'm curious to hear the other two candidates opinion. And what role will the Chamber play?
Worse, all the things they're asking for beyond taxpayer giveaways (density, good public transportation, etc.) those are things we abjectly reject. It's sprawl and big box we want! That's what makes live good, ya know.
I agree that it's not really worth the cost but there is one upside - 50,000 people who will likely vote blue. That could change some things.

Re: “Frank Scott 'launches exploratory run' for Little Rock mayor

Not a tough call at all. Scott is FOR the I-30 Crossing. Sabin is against. That tells me Scott is too traditional when it comes to transportation & economic development (and thus more aligned with the traditional chamber set). Advantage Sabin, though if it were Stodola v. Scott, I'm in for Scott.

Re: “Hey, Jeff Bezos! The mayor says come to LR!

Ah, you want a 1 million population, an international airport, etc.? Cool. But I'm going to go ahead & apply even though LR doesn't qualify thus wasting precious little time & resources BECAUSE THE RULES DON'T APPLY TO ME!!!!!!!
Sincerely,
Mayor Mark Stodola

Re: “Former House Speaker Davy Carter speaks out against Trump DACA decision

We were lucky to have Carter as Speaker for those two years. Democrats, in their last real impact, instigated the coup that would have otherwise left Terry Rice as Speaker. Imagine.
Now imagine the next Speaker post Gilliam. We're in for some TeaPublicans before things get better. I wish Carter would run for something in the GOP. If we're stuck with Republicans, we should be so lucky as to have largely reasonable ones rather than the Andy Davis', Bart Hesters & the rest of the Trump Youth.

Re: “Season three of HBO's "True Detective" to be set in Northwest Arkansas

working in the writing room with Pizalloto as the "sole writer" sounds like a paycheck. If this goes the way of Season 2 it's another Love Guru style credit. One more & there's a bingo.
