Re: “Strong mayor v. cigarettes: Cigs win

We need the City Board of Directors to step up to the plate and do the right things to protect all visitors to the state's only zoo from secondhand smoke exposure---Follow our neighbor to the West (Conway) and pass a smokefree parks, including the zoo, ordinance.

In the mean time, let's be serious about the policy we do have, War Memorial adopted a smoke-free policy sometime ago and the policy is seriously enforced. The same seriousness needs to be applied to the City's smokefree parks policy. This is not rocket science, secondhand smoke kills and steals and destroy the health of hundreds of people every day. Guess what, it does not cost $$$ to prevent it. However, it does cost our elected and appointed officials to have a "back-bone". Don't let Big tobacco hangman, hired gun keep us from an open discussion. Tell the Board of Governors we will not shut-up----we want and deserve a smokefree zoo.
