Re: “Casting out demons: why Justin Harris got rid of kids he applied pressure to adopt

I wish the article had focused more on exactly how difficult it is to raise a child who has an Attachment Disorder! I wish the author could've written this in a way that makes the reader finish the article with a broken heart for EVERYONE involved, not thinking, "those folks are crazy child abusers." Sometimes I think that the only people who truly understand Reactive Attachment Disorder are people who've taken on a violent child, who have actually had the thought, "maybe she's possessed" because you just couldn't find any other explanation.....people who have witnessed that same child be adorable and "perfectly normal" to everyone else.....people who, themselves, have thought they would go crazy just trying to get through one day with this child. If you've adopted a child from a hard place and that child is difficult but never killed a pet or spread his feces on the wall, or came after you with a knife, then you really can't sit in judgment. You can say "I would never handle it that way" all you want, but you just do not know until you've lived it yourself. So let's spread some compassion people! It's a shame this story is getting so much coverage bc our cause - Healing Damaged Children - needs press that raises awareness not more judgment.
