Re: “The legal troubles of Terry Hobbs and John Mark Byers

John Byers has been my number one suspect in the murders since I read the book and saw the HBO special. 1.) He made a statement to police that he went behind Blue Beacon to assist in the search. He searched at night with a flashlight; allegedly with his son, who later said he was in bed asleep at that time. And searching at night with only flashlight would indicate a thorough familiarity with the woods. 2.) Byers said he had a brain tumor. Tumors in the prefrontal love affect judgement of right and wrong. Where was this tumor and verification of it's' existence, proof that he was on Tegretol and Dilantin,(scripts?). 3.) He repeatedly showed exuberance when polygraph showed him to be innocent(was it from relief?). 4.) His alibi for the time of the murders was never confirmed. John Byers conversation with school principal about: "getting rid of Christopher." 5.) He searched area within 10-15 feet from where children were found; was this not to be sure he had left no evidence behind.? 6.) He told police that if they searched behind Echols house in the lake they would find a knife (although the knife they found was not believed to be the kind used to commit murders). How would he know it was there? 7.)When were Byers teeth pulled? Was it after the murders so that his own bite marks could not be matched to the ones found on victim? 8.) Piece of black cloth found in Michaels right hand, would this have contained Byers DNA? 9.) This mysterious "black man" may have been a co-conspirator as two different kinds of knots were used to restrain children. It would have been difficult for one man to corral 3 frightened children without assistance. 10.) Byers gave a knife he said had never been used to an HBO crew-member who found blood on the blade which was later found to contain the blood type of one of the murdered children. 11.) Byers was known to be criminal informant and had history of domestic violence but was repeatedly released from jail when arrested. 12.) Indictment of Echols et. al. should have been reversed when it was discovered that Prosec. attorney had in chambers meeting with judge without defense counsel present (but don't get me started on the screw ups of the judge).
