I'm not a mathematician, but what I understand is that the current tax rate floats between one percent and five percent – based upon current market prices for natural gas. That commodity is extremely depressed (because of a warm winter and a glut of product), and therefore, the state is currently earning the minimum – close to one and a half percent. Depending on where the prices will be in 2013, when this law would take effect, the "take" for Arkansas could easily be four times the current level. And if these folks don't pay for our destroyed roads, who will?
