Re: “Trump and political correctness

Only one problem here: Hitler wasn't elected. In fact, before 1933, the Nazis never polled greater than 38% in Reichstag elections, and Hitler lost his own presidential contest, in which he drew 37%, in 1932. Then-Reich President Hindenburg reluctantly appointed Hitler to the Chancellor's position on January 30, 1933 to end government by emergency decree and restore parliamentary function. Having said that, however, it bears noting that, as the Depression deepened, Germans found the anti-Semitic reactionary nationalism of the Nazis increasingly seductive, so it's entirely accurate to note that a majority of Germans supported the party, particularly before the march to war and violent actions against German Jews began to ramp up in earnest.

Re: “Huckabee and the guns and glory juncture

Dualities are fun, aren't they? Either we all march in lockstep with your perspective, or we're a breeding ground for additional charlatans like Huckabee. Luckily you've still got your good looks working for you.

As it happens, some of us DO teach the very things you mention. Pity you seem unwilling to entertain even the possibility.

Re: “Huckabee and the guns and glory juncture

Have a care about demonizing Ouachita Baptist University, Norma. I am a professor there, and I can assure you that we do not "confer degrees in cherry-picking scripture to support misogyny, racism, homophobia and patriarchy. A B.S. in BS, in other words." I wouldn't work there if we did.

Our university is not perfect, and I can't say that there aren't faculty here who might sympathize with Huckabee's worldview, but I can say that they are in a small minority within a faculty that ranges widely in ideological and partisan perspective (as does our student body). I'll add that there is no small contingent of us who look upon the Huckabee name on our school of Education with great shame, and hope to see it removed in the near future.

The Ouachita campus may once have been fertile soil for Huckabee's worldview back in the 1970s, but we are not that place today.

Re: “Tom Cotton returns campaign donation from racist leader cited by Dylann Roof

I got five bucks right here sez he takes that money back once the spotlight dims on this tragedy.

Re: “Huckabee co-author John Perry was accused of child molestation

This is the obvious play, but I'm making it anyway.

Now we know why he stands so adamantly with the Duggars—familiarity!

Re: “Child abuse: What about the victims?

I guess I needed the ol' /sarcasm tag above, because I was being completely facetious. Harris and his wife are assholes who should be in public stockades for what they did to those poor girls. Far from victims, they are criminals.
