Re: “TGIF: T-shirts cause ruckus in Hot Springs

It's funny that y'all have ol' Paula sized up as a Teabagger.

She ain't.

She's a Democrat. She contributed to President Obama's campaigns.

She's the type of person who would undoubtedly make an excellent 'Arkansas Democrat' a la Mike Ross, Mark Pryor, Blanche Lincoln, etc.

Re: “In this week's Times

Hot Springs is dangerously close to landing a spot on my list. Really, Hot Springs? You want to be grouped with the likes of Fort Smith, Jonesboro, and ((shudder)) Brinkley? Really?

Re: “Sex solicitation charges brewing in Arkadelphia

I went to law school with this guy! Didn't really know him, though, since I'm not the sociable type. And I'm definitely not THAT sociable type.

Re: “No sales boost from tax holiday

elwood -- Regardless of the 'show business' aspect, if a horrid, regressive tax was put on hold for a day or two, and if doing so helped a poor person be able to better afford something he/she desperately needed, then I'm for it. AT has a long history of favoring sales taxes, obviously lacking a basic understanding of the regressive nature of such taxes. When the idea of 'axing-the-food-tax' first emerged, AT opposed it. Time and again, AT has expressed hostility toward the poorest among us by supporting evil, horrible regressive sales taxes.

If conservatives proposed the sales tax holiday, then that should tell you all that you do not have a corner on the good ideas market. Hell, just the fact alone that conservatives in Arkansas are the ones proposing a sales tax break should tell you about the state of true progressivism in the state. (Hint: It doesn't exist. Most of you are posers, fakes -- also known as 'Arkansas Democrats' or 'Arkansas progressives'.)

Good day.

Re: “No sales boost from tax holiday

As usual, the AT picks on sales tax breaks. The AT has yet to meet a regressive sales tax it didn't like. It's amazing to me that this newspaper can be so progressive in some areas but painfully backwards in others. Sales taxes place a disproportionate burden on the poor. If you don't understand that, AT, you need to hurry down to your local community college and enroll in an intro to economics course.

Re: “Bruno's closed; but reopening planned

Ate there once. Worst dining experience of my entire life. Horrid food -- reminded me of Chef Boyardee without the taste. Terrible service. Vowed to never go back. Never have gone back. Doc's Browning's comparison is generous, in my opinion.

Re: “Occupy Kappa Sigma

Surely the 1% can afford to send their kids to better colleges than the University of Arkansas. No offense to anyone here, but an elite institution it ain't.
