Re: “Food Feedback Friday: chips, cheesesteak, and Chuy's

On Thursday, I finally got the spicy Chicken and Dumplings from Southern Gourmasian on Thursday. I was super excited, but was ultimately let down. Fried rice balls, tiny slices of chicken, drenched in spicy hoison and sesame seeds did absolutely nothing for me...especially for the steep price tag. I'll stick with their steamed buns. Had another great trip to Pho Than My on Friday night. Our last trip there a few weeks previously upset the waitress since we arrived 20 minutes to close. But that didn't deter us from going back for the delicious pho and lemongrass beef. Saturday we hit up the Hillcrest Farmer's market and bought some Lemon Cilantro hummus from Geek Eats and some Brats from Freckle Face farms. After that, we went to The Root (our first time) and both got the burger and eggplant fries. Good stuff, but I wasn't a huge fan of the bun they used. Everything else was top notch and just a cool, country vibe. Sunday we did brunch at Loca Luna, which will without a doubt be our last trip there for brunch. I knew something was wrong when I asked for the breakfast burrito with no tomatoes and the waitress said "Umm...they're already made so we can't take out the tomatoes." When you're voted "Best Brunch in Little Rock" and you PRE-MAKE your breakfast burritos, something is definitely wrong. I instead ordered the breakfast casserole which was obviously reheated in the microwave before it was served to me. Just bad. The potatoes were cold and underdone. My wife's eggs benedict were poached well, but the hollandaise sauce was a disgrace to be called that. Will not be going back to Loca Luna anytime soon.

Re: “Chew on this: A bargain bento at Igibon

Completely disagree about the miso soup and salad. Yes, all iceberg seems bland, but the dressing is incredible. I'll take their dressing over ANY other Japanese restaurants ginger dressing. Simply incredible. Love Igibon's. THE go-to spot for Sushi.

Re: “Cowboy up at Sonny Williams

Best steak I've ever had came from Sonny Williams. The $50 Porterhouse is no joke, but it's two meals and the leftovers are amazing right out the fridge.

Re: “Food Feedback Friday: getting out and coming up

How could I forget!? I also finally tried a Pork Bahn Mi Sandwich from Boba Teas on University Friday for lunch. $4 was a steal! My only complaint was I wish they removed the cilantro from the stems before placing it on the sandwich, but that's more a personal preference. Such a fresh, delectable sandwich. I will definitely be going back for more.

Re: “Food Feedback Friday: getting out and coming up

Last Thursday, I went with a co-worker to Pho Than My. I had only been there once and left not seeing what the big deal was. Maybe I just wasn't in the soup mood that day. The Pho was incredible and I've been craving it ever since. The amount of food in that bowl for $8 is ridiculous. I hope that place stays open for a long time. Next time it's going to be tough not to get the Pho again but try one of their broken rice dishes. Friday night it was Layla's on Hwy 10 for some calzones. Their Greek or Gyro Calzone is unbeatable for $6.99. Fast, delicious, and the tzatzki sauce just puts it over the top. Saturday for lunch, my friend took me to Eat My Catfish in Benton. I had never heard of this place and it seemed to be pretty popular. Almost everyone in there was eating fresh boiled crawfish and some were buying live crawfish to take home. The shrimp poboy that my friend got looked like standard fare. When the person said it was "just popcorn shrimp," I knew not to order that. The catfish was pretty good, tasting fresh, but the fries and hushpuppies were standard frozen fare. For Saturday dinner, I grilled some Korean Galbi. Good eating this past week, indeed.

Re: “Food Feedback Friday: the popping out of Pulaski edition

If you're ever taking in some Folk music in Mountain View, you owe it to yourself to go to Tommy's Famous Pizza and get their barbeque pizza.

Re: “UPDAT: 'Officer-involved shooting' on University

I was one of the cars they broke into. They were obviously pretty good at it. Doors were locked, but no window was broken. They just rummaged through all of my stuff. Didn't take anything, thankfully.
