Re: “Riverfest calls it quits

"We the board actually considered making Riverfest less shitty, but after careful deliberation it was decided that this was, like as good as we could do. What passed for entertainment in 1984 is sadly no longer enough to meet the needs of the MTV generation."

Re: “Live Review: Florida-Georgia Line at Verizon

If you Google "Florida Georgia Line Review," the first thing you'll notice is (until now) they're not known for getting good ones. In fact, it's kind of an internet meme.

At first I thought Bill Paddack must be on the FL/GA Line social media payroll, but then I jumped into my Shitty Music Time Machine and went back in time and pulled these quotes from his other reviews throughout modern music history.....or maybe I dreamed it:

Pat Boone:
"Boone is a natural talent and absolute original. He has an uncanny ability to tap into the feelings and rhythm of today's youth. Boone is quickly becoming the voice of this generation"

The Monkees:
"...amazing band that seems to have sprung from nowhere. I don't know where they've been honing their craft and paying their dues, but it's paying off in spades with rock solid songwriting and other-worldly musicianship on their records. Plus, that Davey Jones has a real set of pipes on him."

Tiffany:
"Once in a generation does such a talent come along. With record-breaking sales and sellout concert crowds, I think we will be talking about Tiffany for years to come."

Crowds are never wrong, Bill.

Re: “VIDEO: "The red tide is coming!" Meet the triumphant Republicans, celebrating the new regime in Arkansas

David Ramsey rocks!

The shit for brains voters with short term memory loss will suddenly back away from their support for these corporate shills as soon as things start taking a dive LIKE they always do - LIKE they did from all their flag waving and ribbon-sportin for the war. "No, I was never for the war.....I wasn't a big W fan...." That didn't happen.

I hope you like your Shit Pizza with a side of cheesy false patriotic "Family Values" pandering Shit Sticks.

Re: “R.I.P. Gerald Johnson

Chances are, if you've lived in Little Rock any length of time, you've been in a club or at an event and Gerald was playing and you were touched by his love and gift for music. He lived, loved and breathed what he did and we were lucky to have him.

Play on brother and Godspeed to the other side. You're already missed here.

Re: “The shoot-first culture gets a test in Montana

Maybe a certain mid-city liquor store owner could weigh on his experience laying in wait for a car load of young people who had vandalized the political signs in his yard back in the 1990s. It felt so good at the time to put his money where his mouth was and take a stand, but the well-loved and respected young man who took his bullet is a paraplegic and has been wheelchair bound since his early-twenties. Ask the shooter now if it was totally worth it, or whether a lesser weapon would have achieved the same goal of stopping the crime (rocks, rock salt, lawn darts, etc,). I don't think he feels as strongly today as he did that night. The squirrels are vandalizing my yard, but napalm isn't the best solution.

Re: “Ashley's closes for remodeling, hopes to revamp image

Hopefully this means they're also going to re-invest in the Capital Bar, which has gone from a place worth bragging to hotel bar food like you would find at an airport bistro. Recently opted not to get a salad from the overpriced, food-tastes-like-refrigerator-smells Panera chain. Instead I ordered a Cobb salad to go. Ninety-percent of the lettuce was yellow and included chunks of the core with a questionable egg and fat trimmed off of the beef entree. I stopped getting the char-burnt burgers a long time ago. They also stopped using Leidenheimer's bread for po-boys. If you've ever seen Stormin' Warren Stephens at his fave white people BBQ place off 65th street, it makes complete sense that he doesn't even have taste in the back of his mouth.

Re: “QQA statement on Cantrell tear-downs

Isn't it funny how, no matter what the topic is, when you engage broken records like "Angry-White-Man-Slingerland" long enough, at some point it's going to come down to them blaming black people on welfare as the root of all evil and depriving them of a life in Glenn Beck-istan.

It goes like this:
Non-angry person: "Hey, it's a shame to tear down that old house. We're losing a piece of our history."
Angry White Man: "If you like it so much, why don't you buy it? You want the government to do EVERYTHING for you. How does that help me? I'm too busy working my ass off. I wasn't born rich like some other people I know and I didn't get a scholarship or get into a better school because my grades weren't good enough, cause I spent all my time as a skinny, country-ass kid playing basketball like I thought that was going to lead somewhere and never really explored who I was and what makes me happy in order to pursue a more fulfilling life doing what I love, instead of chasing the bottom line 24/7 at the peril of my soul and everyone who surrounds me. Instead, I have a janitorial business I started through a hook-up by one of my Kappa Sig brothers and I don't make enough with it, because I pay too much in taxes so black people don't have to work and can live high on the hog on my dime. All these Obama -loving liberals are concerned about art, beauty, history, equality, social justice, quality of life, the future and all that shit. I don't need any of that. I just need to live in a society where the only thing that matters is the bottom line and every man for himself - no protection; no security; everyone is armed and loaded for bear; and no planning for the future of anyone alive after I'm dead. I want the entire fucking world set ablaze and charred to a crisp when I'm done making money and consuming shit with the money I made. I want to live in a Ridley Scott-esque post-apocalyptic landscape, except with a mall and a Chili's near my house. Why am I even on a comment board about a historic house in Little Rock? I don't even live in Little Rock. I live in Faulkner County in a large, semi-new, crappily built house that looks like a big Jim Walter home that came with the arched brick portico option and vinyl windows and that's what everyone should aspire to live in. It's not weird looking. It doesn't need paint and, when I'm done with it, they can fold it up and build another one just like it and the other 30 houses just like it that sit within the 1/4 mile square behind the rock sign that says Hickory Pointe, or some shit like that. If it wasn't for all the gov'ment handouts, my wife and I would have matching F250 King Ranch Editions with wide black rims. Your nanny state is robbing me of MY ENTITLEMENTS and, goddamit, I DESERVE them!!!
