Re: “A near-death experience is a reminder: Bicyclists have rights, too

Hi, This is "Rob". Yeah, the weird cyclist above. Thank you ALL for your comments. Yes. Both sides. This topic deserves a conversation. And I am happy one is taking place. Both sides -- non-cyclists and "road Nazis" need to hear each other. Thanks for being part of that. I am not on Facebook, but it seems there is a conversation going on out there. Please do what you can to make it productive.

Thank you, again. This makes me feel like the suffering hasn't been totally pointless.

And for those who asked, I am feeling better. It will be weeks before I can ride again, and I may not road ride anymore. That's tough to say for someone who has ridden about 50,000 miles in Arkansas. But I will ride ... maybe in our fair mountains ... and certainly on the River Trail. Blessings to each of you.

@OnlyInArkansas, I'm happy to tell you that I am off the road. At the moment I am sitting with ice packs on my still broken bones and burn treatments on my leg. It will be some time until I am able to ride again. So I should expect that, at least for now, you should be safe. :)

Re: “A near-death experience is a reminder: Bicyclists have rights, too

Thank you for posting this. I know that we cyclists are annoying.

I understand that.

I get it.

But a six to ten second delay really shouldn't carry with it a death sentence. Drivers take chances and cyclists bear the risks. It is because of this disproportionality that laws like the "safe passing law" are enacted.

Thanks, again.
