Re: “State Surgeon General Joe Thompson arrested

I have known Joe Thompson for over twenty years and I agree with Durango that he is one of Conway’s finest. He’s also one of Arkansas’s finest. He was interviewed for the position of US Surgeon General by Bush but turned it down to stay in LR and spend his career working for the people of the state of Arkansas. He has put Arkansas on the map as a place in the public healthcare arena in the US. Were mistakes made last Sat? Absolutely! Would he do things differently? Most assuredly. But who wouldn’t get upset with a stranger parked in front of their house at 10:30 at night acting suspiciously on a laptop? He exchanged heated words with the guy and went back inside. Then the police showed up (why? It was over!). If you’ve ever had John Law show up late at night at your HOME, shining a flashlight in your face and questioning you for telling someone in front of your house to move along, you might get a bit upset as well. It’s a shame that this is being used to smear him. He truly is one of the good guys. Ask the parents of one of the hundreds of kids he has saved at AR Children’s Hospital.
