Re: “Inconvenient facts about Little Rock middle schools

What do folks at the Walton Family Foundation and the Murphys stand to gain from donating money to build charter schools in Little Rock? I'm missing the punchline. If a newspaper headline read: "Wealthy Families Give Money to Build Schools", I wouldn't automatically assume this was a bad thing. Also, the 3 highest scorers -- Forest Heights, Pulaski Heights, and Mann, also had the highest "improvement" rating, meaning nothing more than maybe those students scored really really low before, so they had a long way to improve thereby getting a higher improvement rating. I cannot and will not infer from that that LRSD schools are better than CHARTER. Maybe LRSD schools are better than CHARTER, I don't know. I am just saying the metrics in this article don't put me any closer to knowing. And again, will someone please spell it out in terms of -- what, exactly, are you saying are the ulterior motives that wealthy families have to use their money to build schools?
