Re: “Casting out demons: why Justin Harris got rid of kids he applied pressure to adopt

The history of the abusive and neglectful treatment these little girls experienced while with their biological mother happens more frequently than anyone knows. The mother's own trauma history without appropriate therapeutic intervention can go a long way in understanding her lack of protection for her babies over the years and with probably many bad choices about the men she exposed them to. It should also provide an alternative reason as to why she would not want DHS to have control over her life once again through her daughters.

I'm glad the children are (hopefully) in places of safety and receiving appropriate loving treatment and therapy. I also hope that the caseworkers involved with this horrible situation are receiving support. The pressures they deal with on a daily basis are hard enough, but to see the train wreck of an adoption you were potentially pressed to advocate for occur with such additional trauma to the children is a special kind of nightmare.
