Saturday ‘Night Moves’

Bob Seger back on road and at Alltel Arena.

Bob Seger, the electric guitar-wielding storyteller famous for such songs as “Night Moves” and an iconic rocker whose “Like a Rock” has become ubiquitous thanks to a car-and-truck manufacturer’s advertising, hasn’t been moving on the road, night or day, in years.

But the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee’s first tour in a decade includes a stop Saturday, Feb. 10, at Alltel Arena. Seger and his Silver Bullet Band perform at 8 p.m. All tickets are $65 through Ticketmaster (975-7575, www.ticketmaster.com) or the arena box office (975-9000).

While Seger has a catalog of favorites from the past three decades that could easily fill two hours on stage, he’s also got new material to share, including “Wait for Me” and “Wreck This Heart” from his latest album, “Face the Promise.” Seger’s newest album debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 album chart, and “Wait for Me” hit No. 1 in the classic rock charge.

But this is Central Arkansas, where songs by the Detroit rocker are a regular staple on classic rock radio, and fans will no doubt be clamoring for such hits as “Hollywood Nights,” “Turn the Page,” “Main Street,” “You’ll Accomp’ny Me,” “Beautiful Loser,” “Still the Same,” “Shame on the Moon,” “Fire Lake,” “We’ve Got Tonight,” “Rock and Roll Never Forgets” and “Old Time Rock & Roll.” Quite a list indeed.

A dozen years or so separated visits to the Timberwood Amphitheater for me and my son. But one thought was the same, and at the same time reminded me that a dozen years of watching your kid grow up flies by like a flash. That thought: Man, I wish Little Rock had an outdoor music site like this.
