Re: “Damascus defends speed enforcement on Highway 65

A couple of things. The Damascus City Council voted last month to purchase the flashing speed limit signs that also show your current speed to place on both ends of town. The Arkansas Highway Department turned them down. That would seem to be an act of good faith on their part.

Also, the law makes a distinction between speeding tickets issued for going 0-10 mph over the limit and more than 10 mph over the limit. Damascus had 0 tickets issued for going less than 10 mph over the limit.

I travel 65 through Damascus regularly and have never had a problem. However, you can predict reliably that someone will be stopped if the fly past you going into town.

Re: “Thursday's open line and the news roundup

Received an email from French Hill announcing an Arkansas Winter Photo Contest. Good to know he has his priorities straight.

Re: “Vote No on Issue 3 says an independent ballot committee

I voted against Issue 3 because it seems to be a potential gravy train for corporations and because A$a has been pushing it on tv ads.

Re: “Republicans feverish about basketball team statement. 1st Amendment? What 1st Amendment?

First of all, I am going to go about my normal routine this evening even though the six Ladybacks kneeled for the national anthem. Nada change to my life and maybe, in some small way, the ladies believe they are fighting for a cause worth fighting.

Secondly, many of the dimwits who are wringing their hands over this and other instances would be gang members if their lot in life had placed them in an oppressed minority.

Re: “Transgender people in bathroom: Laugh or cry

It concerns me that one of my grandsons might have to use the bathroom while Jerry Cox is present.

Indeed, a solution looking for a problem. Life gives you enough without making things up to be scared of.

Re: “Key and Kurrus take questions on Little Rock school leadership change

Perhaps in two years we can elect Baker Kurrus governor. That would be a good first step in getting Arkansas out of "political distress".
