This story is so typical. I'm not for him or against him. But at least I'm open minded, unlike this trash drudging article. Did you actually watch the interview? It was taken (again) out of context. He was there to talk about nuclear deal w/Iran and the reporter started diverting over to the Religious Freedom Act. He told them that we needed to stick with the priority. Iran is the greater threat to discuss. He was saying while we are squabbling over a Bill here, gays die over in Iran. This was his comment: "It's important that we have a sense of perspective about our priorities. In Iran they hang you for the crime of being gay. They are currently imprisoning an American preacher for spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ in Iran. We should focus on the most important priorities our country faces right now. I would say a nuclear armed Iran given the threat that it poses to the region and to our interests in the region and American citizens, is the most important thing that we be focused on." He wasn't being bigoted like the article inaccurately implies.
