Re: “Gas drillers get their own caucus

The counties in the Fayetteville Shale Play have all experienced severe water problems, polluted air and soil and ruined roads. The truth is the unemployment data indicates that employment has gone down in the past five years in those counties where fracking is occuring. It's the slick donations to government officials that is going up. Fracking injects poisonous chemicals along with millions of gallons of water and sand into our ground. Poisonous flowback is injected into our ground and we have experienced unprecedented earthquakes. Some people are without water or are forced to drink dirty, smelly perhaps very toxic water. Our other industries are being displaced and will never return again...farming and tourism is dying from the scarring and polluting of the land. Our government officials have been approached by citizens in the shale play who are crying out for help against these international corporate giants, but have been ignored or rebuffed. They are drilling and fracking (perhaps even underneath) right on the edge of Brewer Lake which supplies the water for thousands of people in Conway and they are currently planning seismic testing on Greers Ferry Lake, which supplies tens of thousands of people with their water supply. If these legislators only came up to see the destruction and sit down with real "folks" instead of the corporate "folks" it would be a great start. After all, they are supposed to work for us!
