Re: “Johnny Key refuses to meet with citizen group on LR schools

People keep acting like we still live in a democracy and are shocked by all this. I wish I wasn't unsurprised by these actions. It is going to be worse. Look at Detroit, Chicago, New Orleans. Look at privatized prisons, and health care, and now the US government. Democracy has left us folks. The takeover of the school district was for this exact reason.

Re: “Education commissioner set to do town hall for LR takeover lobbyist

One of the main complaints about the horrible bad teachers and the union is that we have sick days, and time off. I see that the lady who wrote the email could take Thursday-Monday off to play mom for a wedding planning. Will educators be allowed the same work/life balance?

Re: “Bill to strip qualifications for education commissioner clears House committee

Since all the qualifications, licensure, and education are no longer needed, they can also cancel out the $60,000 in student loan debt most of us teachers aquired through years of hard work, family sacrifice, and eternal debt to bankers and business men like these, just for the honor to hold our positions and jobs. If they take our lifelong careers away, at least the can also cancel our debts To get the jobs they want to end. The commisioner should at LEAST have to pass the Parc and eoc exams and all standardized tests.

Re: “Justin and Marsha Harris: We have "suffered a severe injustice"

I saw this exact thing on law and order svu, and Dennis Leary's rescue me. They shone a light on the scumbags who take money for foster kids they don't even keep up with,so that years, lifetimes go by before protective services realizes the child victims aren't even where they think they are. This always leads to abuse, of every kind, and sexual exploitation. These scumbags are indifferent and feign ignorence, because all they wanted was the check. This is even worse because they actually adopted the children, taking them out of foster care with commitment of legal responsibility of family, and are public leaders and officials. Low life scumbags masquerading as upstanding "Christian" citizens and public servants. Justice will only be served here if they are treated like the other gross victimizers of our most vulnerable children. I do not believe this is what the words of Jesus meant when he said "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." And many of us do believe, there's a special place in hell for people who exploit children.

Re: “Related parties: state Board of Education member and charter school advocate

I am sincerely wondering, if the state is so supportive of charter schools, why it has shot down the charter application of a bi-lingual charter that's been trying to open unsuccessfully for several years, in South west Little Rock. The area where one of the most academically distressed schools is. This charter gets shot down every time. If there is truly a concern of local businesses and the state to improve schools, and even to open charters, why will they not open a charter there, where it is most needed. That is one of the main reasons given by the state and state take over supporters. I am also seriously concerned that with education reform and charters being the spoken goal, why the outdated backwards stance against research based bi-lingual education that is in place in most other modern places. Preventing it here continues failing scores on standardized tests and prevents Arkansans from competing in most any job market. Except perhaps, jobs owned by wealthy family members with local political strings. The information given here about the curriculum used by the company that is opening charters in West Little Rock, gives me some insight finally. Thank you.

Re: “Uber starts car service in Little Rock without City Board approval

so tired of living in a city so far behind the rest of the country in most everything. whether something might be good or bad, if it's "new" or from the "outside" it's going to face so much blockage and grief from outdated attitudes and regulatory boards and governments of the old guard. Everything has to be run through good old boys network and the bible. Public transportation in this city SUCKS. Go UBER. Do you have any idea how much Uber drivers can make? More than most any other jobs in this area right now. The city will drag it's heels forever. Come on with it.
