Enough people will need to decide that protecting the (internal and external) environment matters-we're not there yet as a species. It's that simple. It's why we eat processed foods, drive SUVs, and watch 6 hours of mindless or propagandist tv a day. It's why we're fat, and chronically sick. Those who realize its a broken society are making the changes in their own lives that will make the difference. The earth renews herself with cleansing storms. The tide is changing, albeit slowly. I think we'll be okay, even without the participation of people who want to continue "more of the same." But it won't be pretty for quite a while.
