Re: “Vocabulary misfunction

Strong, Do Not, I repeat, Do Not change for anyone. How on earth could Eyecandy possibly know that Strong "shies" away from doing faces. Eyecandy, who told you that???? Did Strong tell you that she "shies" away from doing faces? Have you ever sat down and talked with the artist so that she could explain her vision to you? If not, you're assumption is not valid. Why? Because without first-hand information and facts from the mouth of the artist, there is no way you could possibly know what she's thinking. I'm sure we all know that dangers in assuming. It should be obvious that this is a potential weapon of mass destruction to your credibility as a critic.

I've seen this artist's artwork displayed throughout the city of Little Rock and surrounding areas for years. Please do not openly communicate any conclusions about her work without valid reasoning. As a fan, I am highly offended. If you were going to incorrectly assume something about this artist's work, then the least you could have done was offered a compliment in the original article. The fact that I saw nothing in the original article that communicated to the reader's what you "liked" about the work (as you did with the other artists), leads me to believe that your "cartoon-like" comment was a subtle snub to Strong's work. Only in the retraction did you say "I like the work" You said absolutely nothing in the original article to communicate this, so we, the readers, have no choice but to take your critique at face value and in the context in which it was used. To refresh you memory, in context, you simply stated the obvious, then added your own unsubstantiated assumption. As a critic, you should know better than this.
