Re: “What about the Arkansas ballot issues?

Most people I know work for $10 or more per hour. Restaurants make less...I never thought of a restaurant job as a permanent place to work....after School job, put me through college type of work... but I guess some people don't set their sites very high....and need us to foot the bill (when we buy products of services).
What is not discussed here is that this type of de facto raise is a symptom of the policies right out of Washington.
Richard Maybury has a great pamphlet on this subject.... What Ever happened to Penny Candy? He goes in to a little detail describing how Governments devalue money, and how we the citizen, the consumer have to live with the choices. Have you noticed that the penny is copper coated zinc? Remember when they copper clad the change in you pocket? Our money is basically worth the same a s a washer you put on a bolt. We agree to use it to trade...but the Global market has devalued our money so much that they don't want it anymore....and the debt is coming due soon....I hate to think what will happen when the interest rate on the debt goes up. Inflation will climb so fast that a raise to $15 for minimum won't even make ends meet. Raising the minimum wage is treating the symptom, not the cause of the problem.

Re: “LA Times on Arkansas's booze ballot measure

The issue not discussed here is my right to live in a dry county. I moved to one. Later voters elected to go wet....and the result was, in my estimation disastrous. I never had to worry about replacing my mail box before. I have done so twice in the last year (since we went wet), because autos collided with the box. The local newspaper has now added to the police blotter regular alcohol related arrests, auto accidents, and crime involving alcohol.
I think it was a poor vote to force upon me the behavior, the damage, the disruption, of those who do choose to drink.
