Re: “Robbers hit Walgreen, Wendy's

Guns or no guns. Whatever. All I know is that we darned sure don't need a "Technology Center" until this sort of stuff comes to a halt. If we can't make Little Rock a safe place to live, who in the world is going to want to come here?

Re: “Lottery director: 'If this gets out, we're all going to lose our jobs'

To all of the above, may I remind you that Engstrom and Hyde are feeding information to the Arkansas Times? They are not whistle blowers. They are instigators using that term as a shield. They certainly are not acting in the best interests of the lottery. Otherwise, they wouldn't feel the need to plead their case to the press. They have "gone rogue" and should be ashamed of themselves.

Re: “Lottery departures add up to real money

Last comment, capitolbuzz - this thread is getting pretty silly. You make Ms. Baldridge sound like a Mini Me. Conspiracy theorists abound. Silly. (shakes head).

Re: “Lottery departures add up to real money

Yes, the ALC hired Ernie. But he can be very charming...the Commission was misled. They expected a warm, engaging Director and he turned out to be anything but that. The Lottery was tightly controlled by the top three. They were all, at the very least, managerially incompetent. Scattered, disorganized, selfish, and at times, just downright mean. Employees, at least the Arkansans, were not treated well. There was blatant favoritism - toward those from SC, or those they feared because of their political connections. Say what you will about Faris (who can also be mean and petty); he has brought expertise and professionalism to a Commission that was oddly detached and uninvolved. ALC employees are grateful he came on board.

AND ALC employees -almost to a man/woman - love Ms. Baldridge. She is fair, politically savvy, and has a high degree of common sense. She WILL right the boat in preparation for the new Director.

Re: “Lottery departures add up to real money

Calm down, capitolbuzz - no need to get your knickers in a twist. You are so incredibly wrong - ain't gonna happen.

Re: “Lottery departures add up to real money

Capitolbuzz, I have no idea where you get your information, but you are incorrect on ALL counts. There was no conspiracy. Employees who have left the lottery will not be coming back. The lottery was mismanaged - horribly. Now the boat is being righted. End of story.

Re: “IRS issues lottery $99,673.29 penalty

What is it about Mr. Miley that allows him to yet again get a "pass" from the boss? Did you notice that in Ernie's explanation to his commissioners, he pretty much cut and pasted Miley's explanation, i.e., he seemed to take it at face value? Why would they think an IRS agent would forgive the 2010 penalties, when the lottery wasn't even half finished with that year at the time the 2009 penalties were forgiven? Why didn't Mr. Miley discuss this with Ernie last year - so they could anticipate trouble this year? Ernie and Co. have gotten rid of people for much less. This is appalling on so many levels.
