Re: “The ballad of Fred and Yoko

LETTER FROM DENMARK

Ref: MOTE, DURST, WILL STEPHENSON

I met Fred Arnold in Charleston at the Prism in -78, while sailing as a marine engineer.
Fred was always an amazing memory in my mind.
He showed great enthusiasm and dedication about The Beatles. Also I was at that time enthusiastic about The Beatles but was however overwhelmed by Freds even bigger enthusiasm. We had some discussions, among other things about Bee Gees version of Sergeant Pepper. And he was remarkably pale. I liked him.

After visiting him, I sent, free of charge, my beloved collection of Beatles artefacts. In 1979 I sent 2,7 kg of Beatles material, records from Denmark and Sweden, bubblegum pictures black and white and coulored among other things.
Through the years I have wondered what happended to Freds enthusiastic life, and also I wondered if I did the right thing shipping my collection to Fred. I have a letter where he expresses his great happiness by receiving my stuff.
Now I have retired, and decided some days ago to go to the USA to see what has happened to Fred.

When my daughter heard about it, she was keen to know more, and she suggested that she would find out more regarding Fred. 27 hours later, she returned with a reference regarding Freds death one year ago. It was a touching story.
Via the article I was confirmed that I did the right thing back in 1979. The story consequently brought peace to my mind.

Since it is not possible to cancel the flight, I am considering to go anyway, down a small part of memory lane. I have some mail correspondence and other stuff, which some might find interesting.
And I have some stories from our two hours meeting i 1978.

I will arrive at Fort Lauderdale airport april 3rd and expect to leave april 14th .

In case someone are reading this and find it interesting to connect me to someone that are interested in knowing a little bit more, please do so.
I would appreciate sharing my memories with anyone interested.

If so, please contact me:
