Re: “Prayers ended in Van Buren school

Mr. Brantley: No, Christians don't believe it is their right to "cram their religion down the throats of others." We do, however, believe that we have the right to exercise our personal beliefs publicly as well as privately. The Establishment Clause of the US Constitution gives us that right. It sounds to me, from the tone of your editorial and the comments below it, like the more common belief is that liberal, anti-Christians believe it is their right to cram their beliefs down OUR throats and to stop us from expressing our own beliefs. Sounds a bit hypocritical, doesn't it?

Re: “Bill to ban plastic shopping bags

Kudos to Senator Altes! This is a matter which should have been taken care of years ago. My wife and I have a collection of cloth shopping bags which we use regularly - there is no inconvenience, and these bags are much sturdier (less chance of their tearing on the way to the house). The mess made by plastic bags is foolish and selfish. I'm not a "tree hugger" either, but stupid is stupid no matter what your sympathies!
