Re: “Woman butts up against art

Maybe this was some sort of "intervention"?

Re: “Fisk/Crystal Bridges deal OK'd

Once again let's hope that the ghost of O'Keeffe can be appeased by some sort of special treatment for the Fisk collection works that will be shown at Crystal Bridges -- maybe a dedicated showcase gallery? Or, since O'Keeffe's intent was that the collection be used to further the education of Fisk students perhaps Crystal Bridges could sponsor field trips for said students, enabling them to see the museum's permanent collection in addition to the works which (if I understand correctly) will still reside part-time at Fisk.

Re: “Vocabulary misfunction

Personally, "cartoon" has never held a particularly derogatory meaning in my book unless it is used clearly in such a context. In fact -- when it comes to the visual arts I'm not too certain that the definition posted by ASUprof even applies, and "cartoon-like" takes the description even farther away by comparing the manner in which the work has been produced.

Having just written the above paragraph it's still not hard to understand how the meaning could be misinterpreted by some. Perhaps a better word would be "cloisonnist":

Re: “Clinton, Close and Crystal Bridges

Very glad to read that at least one Jasper Johns piece is included in the collection also -- wish we had a pic...

Re: “Headed toward the Crystal palace?

Despite the silly and overboard propaganda he produced during WWII, I've always had a soft spot in my head for T.H. Benton. Avery is good too...

Re: “Art scammers hit up registry

He (or she ;) is a busy fellow --has contacted me twice via email, once as Vincent Rodringo and then again as Wayne Dixon. The registry is the only place I allow my main email address to be public so the scammer had to find it there.

Don't get taken, all!
